Prime Training Program
PERMIT Prior to orientation, you will complete these steps: Complete a DOT Physical & Drug Test scheduled by your Recruiter. Obtain DOT Medical Card & Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) in your home state. For your CLP, make sure it is “NI-Non Excepted Interstate”.
ORIENTATION Attend orientation at a Prime Inc. orientation facility (Springfield, MO; Pittston, PA; or Salt Lake City, UT). Prime provides transportation, 3 meals per day & hotel accommodations during orientation. Experience hands-on, computer-based, & simulator training.
CDL INSTRUCTION Train with a CDL Instructor for 2 to 4 weeks & experience one-on-one instruction to develop the skills needed to pass the Class A CDL Exam. Receive a $200 per week loan to spend on food & living costs during this phase of training. Loan will be paid back at $25 per week after you earn your CDL until full amount borrowed is paid back.
CDL EXAM Return to a Prime terminal to take the final state CDL Exam which includes vehicle inspection, backing skills, & road test. Earn a $250 bonus if you pass the CDL Exam on your first try. Once you obtain your Class A CDL, you become eligible to be hired on as a company driver or independent contractor and move into the TNT phase of training.”
TNT TRAINING Obtain the relevant minimum training miles below with a TNT Trainer after earning your CDL:
- Refrigerated Division: 50,000 miles
- Tanker/Flatbed Division: 35,000 miles
You will be paid a minimum of $900/week while away from home and available for dispatch. A minimum of $672/week will be paid if you are at home and available for dispatch
UPGRADE ELIGIBILITY Once you obtain the minimum training miles applicable to your division, you will be eligible for solo driver upgrade review. Upgrading into your own truck is based on service, safety, and truck availability.
NOTES All guarantee pay amounts listed above are before taxes. Guarantee increases go into effect pay week after mileage mark is achieved. Mileage requirements may vary depending on division choice. For the Tanker & Flatbed Division, upgrading process includes attendance and successful completion of relevant Bootcamp/Securement class and testing. Residents of CA & NJ are not eligible to become independent contractors.
